My Work |
My experience is varied and deep. I have provided over 35,000 hours of therapy. I provide counseling for depression, anxiety, mood swings, and problems of emotional sensitivity and dysregulation. And I am passionate about relationship counseling, which I consider my strength.
Because my methods are eclectic, I am experienced with several methods of therapy, including short term psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, collaborative relationship therapy, components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, spiritual approaches, and other approaches to helping people change. My clients seem to appreciate that I am able to size up complicated situations quickly; I help them feel safe in talking about problems; I really care; and I speak in an honest, tactful, and clear manner. I have provided several continuing educational activities for the Denton Area Psychotherapists Association, and regularly provide counseling to other mental health professionals. |
My motivation |
I am often asked, "How do you spend so much time talking with people about problems?"
I explain that it would get really old if we just talked about problems. That's not how it goes. We actively seek solutions--better ways--and it's satisfying when we find them. But it is sometimes even more than that. Seeing people cope well in adversity, seeing growth, and helping people change into better versions of themselves is inspiring. |
